Rajni Menon, a Magna Cum Laude from the Fashion Institute in New York City, founded Anya Collections in 2011. Anya means ‘foreign’ in Sanskrit language – we design stylish women’s clothing inspired by colors, art, and fabrics from countries around the world.
Anya collections features a collection of women’s blouses/tops created with beautiful silks, chiffons and cottons. Anya woman is interested in embellishment in any form. She is a very stylish woman who likes to wear the blouse for an evening night out or for an event. The designs are inspired by the rich culture and colors from around the world.
Embellishments with sequins, crystals, brocades are just a few of the unique elements that prevail through out the brand’s collections.
Ms. Menon was born in Kerala, India – a state well known for its tourist destination and is famous for its backwaters, Ayurvedic treatments, and tropical greenery. She is fascinated by the variety of colors and design found in art and clothing all over India. She took to oil painting early on and trained under a well-known oil painter and has held numerous exhibitions in India. She has a bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering at the Amrita Institute of Science and Technology, India and worked on design of industrial transformers in India and the US.
She decided to focus on fashion after a few years in the engineering field and learnt fabric painting at the YWCA and at the Fashion institute, NY. She found herself drawn more into the area and decided to pursue a career in the fashion industry. She applied for and graduated from the Fashion institute of Technology, NY. She brings out a combination of all the artistic creativity in her fabulous blouses.
